Basketball Game Preview: Westside Wolverines vs. Middleburg Broncos

The Westside Wolverines will face off against the Middleburg Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses for Westside and four for Middleburg.

Westside is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Episcopal School of Jacksonville on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Westside had to suffer through a 64-20 loss at the hands of Episcopal School of Jacksonville. The Wolverines were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-12.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 63 points the game before, Middleburg was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They were outmatched by Fleming Island and fell 72-22. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 423rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 207th).

Westside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Middleburg, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Westside won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, slipping by Middleburg 31-30. Will Westside repeat their success, or does Middleburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
