Recap: Cristo Rey Royals vs. Summit Christian Academy Eagles
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against The Carmel School, the Cristo Rey Royals were happy to have found some success on Friday. They really took it to Summit Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-19 victory on the road. Given Cristo Rey's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while Summit Christian Academy is ranked 389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Summit Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Courtland Reiter scored 12 points.
Cristo Rey's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11. As for Summit Christian Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cristo Rey on the road again on Thursday and play against Richmond Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Summit Christian Academy, they will face off against Veritas Collegiate Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
