Softball Recap: Sartell-St. Stephen Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Sartell-St. Stephen had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Alexandria on Tuesday. The Sabres put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 7-0 victory. Seven seems to be a good number for the Sabres as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Sartell-St. Stephen's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kennedy Lewis, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Emma Good also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Sartell-St. Stephen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alexandria struck out ten times.

The win was the seventh in a row for Sartell-St. Stephen, bringing their record up to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Alexandria, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Sartell-St. Stephen will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Moorhead at 4:00 p.m. Alexandria does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
