Softball Recap: Jonathan Alder Extends Winning Streak to Three

Jonathan Alder had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Tecumseh Arrows with a sharp 16-6 win. Considering the Pioneers have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jonathan Alder got a great performance from Taryn Miller as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Miller has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Myla Schilling was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Natalie Neumeier was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Jonathan Alder kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Jonathan Alder pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Tecumseh, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Tecumseh will square off against Bellefontaine at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Jonathan Alder will be paying especially close attention to the Arrows' contest: after the Arrows face off against the Chieftains, they'll take on Jonathan Alder again at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
