Soccer Game Preview: Saluda vs. Ninety Six

Saluda hasn't had much luck against Ninety Six recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home pitch against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m.

Saluda had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least four goals, but Newberry put an end to it on Monday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Bulldogs who were credited with the win. Newberry got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Saluda's two.

Saluda will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Ninety Six extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Wildcats' defense stepped up to hand Batesburg-Leesville a 6-0 shutout. Considering Ninety Six have won five matchups by more than four goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Batesburg-Leesville from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Brooklyn Burgeson led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Ninety Six's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Saluda, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Saluda might still be hurting after the 5-2 defeat they got from Ninety Six when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
