It was a good run, but Hickory Flat unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Potts Camp Cardinals. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Hickory Flat was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Potts Camp work for it, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-15, 19-25, 27-25, 25-22.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Potts Camp to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylee Howell, who had 23 digs and one assist. Those 23 digs gave Howell a new career-high. Alyssa Clifton was another key player, getting 13 kills, eight digs, and one block.
Hickory Flat's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-13-1. As for Potts Camp, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-4.
Coincidentally, Hickory Flat and Potts Camp will both be playing West Union the next time they take the court. The Cardinals will host the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Rebels will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
