Basketball Recap: Cedar Creek Piles Up the Points Against Navarro

Cedar Creek posted their biggest victory since February 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging an 83-43 win over the Navarro Vikings. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Vikings are ranked 1017th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Cedar Creek to victory were Kenji Franklin and Phineas Koplin. Franklin almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, while Koplin went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 28 points and three steals. What's more, Franklin also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Nomar Ruvalcaba was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Cedar Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive games.

Cedar Creek is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Navarro, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Cedar Creek will welcome McCallum at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully McCallum likes a good challenge. As for Navarro, they will square off against Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
