Softball Recap: Hurricane Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hurricane walked away with it. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Uintah Utes on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Utes on Friday, they had to take a 16-6 loss.

Austin Terry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Ashlyn Hirschi and Addi Lauritzen did most of the damage at the plate: Hirschi went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run, while Lauritzen went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most doubles Hirschi has posted over her last 11 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Fuller, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hurricane is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-18 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Uintah, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.

Looking ahead, Hurricane will take on Payson at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. Uintah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
