Basketball Recap: Fort Chiswell Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Galax came into Wednesday's game looking for another win against Fort Chiswell, but Owen Jackson wouldn't allow it. The Fort Chiswell Pioneers walked away with an 86-73 victory over the Galax Maroon Tide on Wednesday thanks in part to Jackson, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points. His evening made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Armbrister, who posted four points and six assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

Fort Chiswell is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Galax, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Chiswell will take on George Wythe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. George Wythe knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Fort Chiswell likes a good challenge. As for Galax, they will challenge Bland County at 8:15 p.m. on Friday.
