Recap: Daniel Lions vs. West-Oak Warriors
The Daniel Lions had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They strolled past West-Oak with points to spare, taking the game 58-39. This was payback for Daniel, who suffered a 31-29 loss the last time these two teams met.
Daniel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lila Mann led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelin Cumbie, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, West-Oak saw an underclassman step up: Joey Burgess scored 13 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Reagan Mobley, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Daniel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for West-Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Daniel will square off against Seneca at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seneca and Daniel are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for West-Oak, they will head out on the road to face off against Walhalla at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Walhalla is ranked 52nd, while West-Oak is ranked 66th).
