Basketball Game Preview: Fairfax Stampede vs. McClintock Chargers

Fairfax is 1-7 against McClintock since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Fairfax Stampede will host the McClintock Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fairfax is coming into the match on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They claimed a resounding 68-31 victory over Metro Tech. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-20.

Michael Holdbrook continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 18 rebounds. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Evans, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, McClintock didn't have too much trouble with Arizona College Prep on Wednesday as they won 58-43.

McClintock's win came from a few key players Fairfax will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Iyzaya Soto, who went 7 for 12 en route to 18 points in addition to six assists and five boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024. Joshua Mcmanaway was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

McClintock has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Fairfax, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-15.
