The Durham Academy Cavaliers will face off against the Voyager Academy Vikings at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Durham Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5  runs per game  this season.
Durham Academy will bounce into Thursday's   match after  beating Cary Academy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by  a  16-3 margin over the Chargers on Tuesday. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Cavaliers.
 Stella Teis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits (and only one walk). That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances with four  RBI, two  runs,  and one  stolen base.
 In other batting news, Durham Academy got a  massive  performance out of  Whitney Wiles, who  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI. What's more,  Wiles posted two  hits, the most she's  had since back in March. Another player making a difference was  Lillian Dardani, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.
 Durham Academy  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .692. They are 6-2-1 when  they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile,  after soaring to 16  runs the game before, Voyager Academy was a bit more limited  in their  game  on Tuesday. They lost  11-2 to Vance Charter.
 Voyager Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Lainey Higdon, who  went 1-for-3 with one  run and one  RBI.  Gabi Mebane also deserves some recognition as  she  got her first  hit of the season.
 Voyager Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Durham Academy,  the  victory  got them back to even at 7-7-1.
Voyager Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them  on Thursday. Durham Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 7.2  strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Voyager Academy, though, as  they've been averaging  only 4  strikeouts. Will Durham Academy keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
 Durham Academy suffered a grim  16-0 defeat to Voyager Academy  in their previous meeting  on Friday. Can the Cavaliers avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
