Football Recap: Alden Comes Up Short

Alden had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it four. They were outmatched by the Western New York Maritime Charter/Tapestry Seahawks and fell 46-12. Having soared to a lofty 49 points in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Western New York Maritime Charter/Tapestry, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.0 points on average over those games.

It was another big night for Jayvon Funderburk, who rushed for 172 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. He didn't just play on offense: he also made two total tackles and defended two passes. Davion Blackwell was another key player, picking up 54 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Alden wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 49-6 win against Cleveland Hill on the 11th. As for Western New York Maritime Charter/Tapestry, they have also already played their next game, a 28-22 loss against Akron on the 11th.
