Branford is a perfect 4-0 against Jefferson County since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Branford Buccaneers will face off against the Jefferson County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Branford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Branford will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Hamilton County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Branford walked away with an 8-3 win over Hamilton County on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.
Patrick Williams and Enalee Perry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Williams tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Perry tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Williams scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Perry went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Branford is undefeated when Williams posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Troy Roberts, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Branford's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Jefferson County duked it out with Munroe on Tuesday. Jefferson County came up short against Munroe, falling 15-5.
Jefferson County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marcos Vargas, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Vargas has posted since back in February of 2024.
Jefferson County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Branford, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Branford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jefferson County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Branford's way against Jefferson County in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Branford made off with a 20-1 victory. Will Branford repeat their success, or does Jefferson County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
