Baseball Game Preview: Knox Central Panthers vs. Floyd Central Jaguars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Knox Central Panthers challenge Floyd Central Jaguars at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Knox Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against West Geauga on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 6-5. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolverines 4-0 in the first period.

Zack Carrol was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Austin Bargo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Hayden Melton was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Floyd Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Padua Franciscan, falling 11-1.

Floyd Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jace Martin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Martin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Knox Central's record now sits at 1-5. As for Floyd Central, their record is now 3-5.
