Soccer Game Preview: Goddard vs. Derby

Goddard hasn't had much luck against Derby recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Goddard has given up an average of 3 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Goddard is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to eight goals last Thursday, they were much more limited against Maize South on Tuesday. They came up short against the Mavericks, falling 9-0.

Meanwhile, Derby put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Northwest. Considering Derby have won five matches by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Goddard's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Derby, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Goddard couldn't quite get it done against Derby when the teams last played back in April of 2022 as they fell 2-0. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
