Basketball Recap: Waldron Takes a Loss

Waldron's game on Tuesday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shelbyville Golden Bears. The loss continues a trend for the Mohawks in their meetings with the Golden Bears: they've now lost four in a row.

Among those leading the charge was Maddy Jones, who posted 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Ash, who earned eight points in addition to nine boards and five assists.

Waldron's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Waldron will venture away from home to square off against Brown County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shelbyville, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Connersville at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
