Senior led Fargo Davies to first state title in 11 years after making impact on offense, defense and special teams.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2025 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Kolten Tesch of Fargo Davies (Fargo) is the 2025 MaxPreps North Dakota High School Football Player of the Year. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior running back helped the Eagles to an 11-1 record and Division AAA state title, the school's first since 2014.

For the season, Tesch ran 135 times for 1,533 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also made a big impact on defense finishing with 63 tackles and four interceptions.

In a 41-19 win over Century (Bismarck) in the state championship game, Tesch finished with 12 carries for 214 yards and three touchdowns. The Eagles broke a Dakota Bowl record by rushing for 532 yards.

A week prior in the semifinals, Tesch ran for 238 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a fumble recovery and blocked a field goal in a 51-29 win over Bismarck.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
