Basketball Game Preview: Santa Fe Demons vs. La Cueva Bears

Santa Fe is 0-4 against La Cueva since January of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Santa Fe Demons will look to defend their home court against the La Cueva Bears at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, Santa Fe ended up a good deal behind Eldorado and lost 41-23. The Demons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, La Cueva took their matchup on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 64-27 win over Capital. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Jaguars are ranked 73rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

La Cueva's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Santa Fe, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Santa Fe ended up a good deal behind La Cueva in their previous meeting back in February of 2018, losing 46-28. Thankfully for Santa Fe, Brooke Nelson (who posted 20 points along with five boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
