Softball Recap: Bertie Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Bertie's offense. They came up short against the Martin County Gators on Friday, falling 22-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Tuesday.

Bertie has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Martin County, the win keeps they at an undefeated 14-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Bertie will face off against rival Gates County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Martin County is set to challenge their familiar foe Perquimans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gators 1.6, the Pirates 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
