Recap: Blue River Valley Vikings vs. New Castle Trojans
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Shenandoah, the Blue River Valley Vikings were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against New Castle and snuck past 55-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Blue River Valley also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Blue River Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Charlee Gibson out in front who scored 23 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Maciah Driskill was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, New Castle saw an underclassman step up: Anna Tyner scored 21 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Tyner scored a full 40.4% of New Castle's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Hart, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds.
Blue River Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for New Castle, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Blue River Valley will take on Wapahani at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Castle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
