Basketball Game Preview: Burroughs Bombers vs. Lutheran North Crusaders

Burroughs and Lutheran North are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Burroughs Bombers will be playing at home against the Lutheran North Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Burroughs' tournament run continued when they took on St. Joseph's Academy on Monday. Burroughs came up short against St. Joseph's Academy, falling 60-38. The Bombers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Breaunna Ward, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 16 points and seven steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Mays, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 16 points.

Meanwhile, Lutheran North came up short against Duchesne last Saturday and fell 54-42. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while the Pioneers are ranked 129th).

Lutheran North dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Burroughs, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Burroughs against Lutheran North in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as the squad secured a 69-34 win. Does Burroughs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lutheran North turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
