Baseball Game Preview: Henley Hornets vs. The Dalles Riverhawks

The Henley Hornets will square off against The Dalles Riverhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Henley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Henley made easy work of Klamath Union and carried off a 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Mark Carpenter and Conner Shively did most of the damage at the plate: Carpenter went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Shively scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI Carpenter has posted since back in April of 2024. Jacoby Tacchini was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Henley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, The Dalles was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Hood River Valley, falling 11-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Henley now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for The Dalles, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
