Basketball Game Preview: Deer Park Deer vs. Brazoswood Buccaneers

The Deer Park Deer will take on the Brazoswood Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Deer Park will be strutting in after a win while Brazoswood will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Saturday, Deer Park took their contest with ease, bagging a 64-32 victory over Clear Lake. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-15.

Deer Park found their leader in sophomore Alyssa Harms, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 15 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Ripley, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Deer Park was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Brazoswood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Dickinson and fell 70-34. The Buccaneers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-20.

Brazoswood's defeat dropped their record down to 5-25. As for Deer Park, the win got them back to even at 15-15.

Everything came up roses for Deer Park against Brazoswood in their previous matchup on January 3rd, as the squad secured an 80-14 victory. In that game, Deer Park amassed a halftime lead of 50-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
