McComb took a 21-point defeat the last time they faced off against Poplarville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers slipped by the Hornets 35-34 on Friday. The Tigers' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Tramarion Davis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 270 yards and five TDs. Broderick Peters did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 76 receiving yards.

When it comes to explaining why Poplarville lost, don't look at Tylan Keys. Despite the final result, he rushed for 285 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Keys' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 130 rushing yards dating back to last season.

McComb's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Poplarville, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-3.

Coming up, McComb will head out on the road to challenge Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 11.2 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Poplarville, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Pike at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
