Baseball Game Preview: Corvian Community Cardinals vs. Mountain Island Charter Raptors

For the second straight game, Corvian Community will face off against Mountain Island Charter. The Cardinals will challenge the Raptors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Corvian Community didn't have quite enough to beat Mountain Island Charter and fell 2-1.

Brennan Frey was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Frey was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Corvian Community's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

Frey wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Gilmore, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

The win snapped Mountain Island Charter's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-11 record. As for Corvian Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
