Basketball Game Preview: St. George's Gryphons vs. Evangelical Christian Eagles

St. George has gone 8-2 against Evangelical Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the St. George's Gryphons will head out on the road to face off against the Evangelical Christian Eagles at 3:30 p.m.

On Friday, St. George's came up short against Trinity Christian Academy and fell 49-41. While losing is never fun, the Gryphons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Lions are ranked 31st).

Despite the loss, St. George's had strong showings from Carson Crump, who posted 19 points and eight boards, and Ontarious Odom, who put up eight points. Crump's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Amir Wilson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Evangelical Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three two weeks ago. They walked away with a 62-51 victory over the Lions.

Evangelical Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-14. As for St. George's, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-6.

St. George's came out on top in a nail-biter against Evangelical Christian in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 50-48. Will St. George's repeat their success, or does Evangelical Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
