Preview: Burwell Longhorns vs. Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets
Burwell is 9-0 against Heartland Lutheran since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Burwell Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets. Burwell is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Burwell had to suffer through a rough 72-40 loss at the hands of Riverside. Burwell has not had much luck with Riverside recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 48-21, which was the final score in Heartland Lutheran's tilt against Fullerton on Saturday. Heartland Lutheran was down 35-13 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Burwell has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Heartland Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
Everything came up roses for Burwell against Heartland Lutheran in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 52-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burwell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
