Basketball Recap: St. Cecilia Bluehawks vs. Centura Centurions
St. Cecilia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 65-40 to the Centura Centurions. The Bluehawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Centurions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.
Despite the defeat, St. Cecilia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ethan Schultes posted five points and seven boards. Aiden Schieffer was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Barrett Fries was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 34 points and 13 rebounds for Centura. Fries is becoming a predictor of Centura's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is 6-3 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Fletcher Fries, who to rack up 13 points and three steals.
St. Cecilia's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Centura, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.
St. Cecilia will host Palmer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centura, they will take on Doniphan-Trumbull at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Doniphan-Trumbull is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.4 points per game this season.
