Baseball Recap: Biggs' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Biggs and Maxwell squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Biggs had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-7. The Wolverines' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Matthew Martin put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brady Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Biggs is 8-3 when Smith posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-8 otherwise. Collin Beck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Biggs' loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Maxwell, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-6.

Biggs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maxwell, they will square off against Los Molinos at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 2.8, the Bulldogs 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
