Football Recap: Wilmer-Hutchins Comes Up Short

The matchup between Wilmer-Hutchins and Southwest on Thursday hardly resembled the 16-8 effort from their previous meeting. The Eagles were beaten by the Raiders 50-21. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Wilmer-Hutchins had strong showings from Jaheim Cummings, who picked up 101 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and JaQuavion Gaston, who rushed for 128 yards on only 12 carries.

Zachariah Cain had a dynamite game For Southwest., rushing for 150 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries, while also throwing for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Their leading receiver Airin Farmer was Cain's top target yet again, picking up 87 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Wilmer-Hutchins' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Southwest, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilmer-Hutchins will face off against Spruce at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for Southwest, they will challenge Panther Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
