Baseball Recap: Normal University Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Normal University had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Metamora Redbirds by a score of 5-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pioneers also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Normal University pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Metamora, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, Normal University and Metamora will both be playing Pekin the next time they take the field. The Redbirds will host the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Pioneers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
