Softball Recap: Coolidge's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Saturday just wasn't the day for Coolidge's offense. They fell just short of the Tanque Verde Hawks by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bears' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Autumn Hoover spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, Coolidge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natasha Juan, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Coolidge moved to 9-5 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Tanque Verde, their victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coolidge will take on Valley Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tanque Verde, they will face off against Sabino at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
