Baseball Recap: Clinton Comes Up Short

Clinton had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-5 to make it four. They lost 9-0 to the Mt. Markham Mustangs. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Comets were not able to get on the board.

As for Mt. Markham, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Mt. Markham's part, the result came thanks to Caden Walker's shutout, as he gave up just two hits.

At the plate, Mt. Markham let Jamison Young and Owen Jones run wild. Young went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Jones got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jones is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Pcola, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Clinton will be playing at home against Westmoreland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Markham, they will head out to face off against Morris Catholic at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
