Shelby is 8-2 against River Valley since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Shelby Whippets will look to defend their home court against the River Valley Vikings at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

River Valley is hoping to do what Highland couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Shelby's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Shelby came out on top against Highland by a score of 64-53.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River Valley). They took down Ridgemont 79-63 on Tuesday. The Vikings pushed the score to 61-39 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golden Gophers cut but never quite recovered from.

Shelby's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for River Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Shelby beat River Valley 86-77 in their previous meeting back in February. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was River Valley's Carson Smith, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 30 points and four steals.
