Baseball Recap: Pacific Comes Up Short

Pacific had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Miller Rebels. Having soared to a lofty 26 runs in the game before, the Pirates couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Miller, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games.

For Miller's part, Raphael Sotelo and Nathan Lora did most of the damage at the plate: Sotelo went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Lora went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Sotelo has become a key player for the Rebels: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Elian Salas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

While Pacific had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
