Basketball Game Preview: Coahulla Creek Colts vs. North Murray Mountaineers

After both having extra time off, the Coahulla Creek Colts and the North Murray Mountaineers will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Coahulla Creek is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Coahulla Creek picked up another tournament win last Monday. They came out on top against Ridgeland by a score of 65-56. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Panthers are ranked 475th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Coahulla Creek had a senior duo take command as Gage Voyles went 8 for 18 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and three steals and Cullen Marti dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Voyles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Waelyn Baliles, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Coahulla Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgeland only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Murray, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 62-52 victory over Port St. Joe last Saturday.

The win got North Murray back to even at 5-5. As for Coahulla Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
