Baseball Recap: Lehi Falls Short Against Ranked Skyridge

Lehi faced Skyridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Pioneers fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 7-6. The Pioneers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Lehi got a good showing from Ryder Ockey, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Mays Madsen and Dawson Brown stepped up to the plate in a big way. Madsen went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Brown went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Madsen is becoming a predictor of Lehi's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-3 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Yates, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Lehi's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Skyridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9.

While Lehi had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
