Football Recap: Northside Christian Skates Past Evangelical Christian with Ease

Northside Christian strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Evangelical Christian Sentinels 46-7. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four games by 22 points or more so far this season.

Northside Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayce Jones, who picked up 109 receiving yards and two TDs, and also threw for 92 yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 101.2 receiving yards per game. Jack Griffin was another key signal caller, throwing for 286 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes.

Northside Christian didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Evangelical Christian to a completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Jones and Cody Sanderson, who each logged one passes deflected. That's the best completion percentage they've posted all season.

Northside Christian's defense also made the game a nightmare for Ty Williams., racking up eight sacks. Jacquey Ferguson Jr was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up seven sacks himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 11.

Northside Christian's record is now 5-0. As for Evangelical Christian, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside Christian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Evangelical Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Glades Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
