Volleyball Recap: Calvary Day School Comes Up Short

If Calvary Day School was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Forsyth Country Day on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell just short of the Caldwell Academy Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Calvary Day School sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 21-25, 25-13, 19-25, 17-15.

Quinn Cornatzer paced Calvary Day School's offense, picking up 15 kills. Cornatzer got some help from Reagan Reece and her 40 assists. Finally, Olivia Craig kept Calvary Day School's defense grounded, leading the team with seven blocks.

Leading Caldwell Academy to victory were Stella Streng and Gabby Trevino. Streng had 15 digs and three aces, while Trevino had five aces. Those five aces gave Trevino a new career-high.

Calvary Day School has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Caldwell Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Calvary Day School has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Greensboro Day School on the 16th. As for Caldwell Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Westchester Country Day on the 16th.
