Softball Recap: Sonoma Valley Comes Up Short

Sonoma Valley came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-3 to the Petaluma Trojans. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost five in a row.

Sonoma Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Rhodd, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Rhodd has snagged this season.

Sonoma Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Petaluma, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Sonoma Valley will take on San Rafael at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Dragons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Petaluma, they will head out on the road to square off against Justin-Siena at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans are facing the Braves at the right time seeing as the Braves are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
