Basketball Recap: Heath Sets Scoring Season-High Against Zanesville

Heath suffered their closest loss since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Zanesville Blue Devils by a score of 42-40. One positive for the Bulldogs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Heath lost, don't look at Kailyn Holmberg. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 15 on her way to 19 points and eight rebounds. Sydney Cottrell was another key player, putting up five points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Zanesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lakeyah Butcher, who posted ten points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta'Myah Taylor, who put up eight points.

This is the second loss in a row for Heath and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Zanesville, with the win, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-5.

Heath will challenge Johnstown-Monroe at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Zanesville, they will face off against Watkins Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
