Baseball Game Preview: Rowlett Eagles vs. Wylie Pirates

For the second straight game, Rowlett will face off against Wylie. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rowlett 3.1, Wylie 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Rowlett fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Wylie on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 11-8 to the Pirates. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this game were averaging 3.08 runs allowed.

Tucker Opie made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Naphtali Orozco also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The victory (which was Wylie's fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Rowlett, they moved to 8-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
