Basketball Recap: Hay Springs Takes a Loss

Hay Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 30-25 heartbreaker at the hands of the Crawford Rams. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 39-26.

Despite the loss, Hay Springs still got an impressive performance from Julia Russell, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Russell a new career-high in steals. Mya Turman was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Hay Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games.

Hay Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Crawford, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Hay Springs has already played their next matchup, a 46-45 loss against Garden County on the 14th. As for Crawford, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cody-Kilgore at 5:00 p.m.
