Football Preview: North Valleys Panthers vs. Galena Grizzlies
The North Valleys Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Galena Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
North Valleys took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 42-14 victory over Wooster at home. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 27 points or more this season.
Hayden Lewis was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 162 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries. Mikole Almond was another key player, throwing for 179 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Galena faced Damonte Ranch in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Galena came out on top against Damonte Ranch by a score of 21-14.
Galena can attribute much of their success to Colson Kermode, who rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Ritenhouse made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Galena's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Colby Crossman, Kermode, and Kermode picked up one apiece.
The win got North Valleys back to even at 3-3. As for Galena, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
