Baseball Recap: St. Edward's Comes Up Short

After flying high against Marathon on Saturday, St. Edward came back down to earth. The Pirates fell just short of the Dolphins by a score of 6-5 on Monday. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dolphins earlier this season, when they won 7-0.

Nolan Ange was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Reid Morris also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

St. Edward's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Marathon, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. St. Edward's will square off against Merritt Island Christian at 5:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Marathon, they will take on Dixie County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
