Baseball Recap: Gray's Creek Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Gray's Creek hadn't done well against Cape Fear recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bears walked away with a 6-1 win over the Colts. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Davis Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Grayson Hulen was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Jasinski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Gray's Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Fear only posted a batting average of .130.

Gray's Creek's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cape Fear, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.

As of now, neither Gray's Creek nor the Colts have any future games scheduled.
