            Baseball Preview: Loyalsock Township Lancers vs. Sayre Redskins        
        
		
        
        
            The Loyalsock Township Lancers will hit the road for the first time this season to  square off against  the Sayre Redskins  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses dating back to last season for Loyalsock Township and nine for Sayre dating back to last season.
Loyalsock Township fought the good fight in their extra-innings  matchup against Lake-Lehman  on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took  a  19-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

 Deryk Kulp put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching three innings while giving up just one earned  (and five unearned) runs off   three  hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks any time he's  pitched this season. He was even better at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave  him a new career-high in  doubles (two).
 In other batting news,  Drake Dupont was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 5-for-6 with three  doubles, two  RBI,  and one  run. Those  five  hits gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Jacob Baylor, who  got on base  in three of his six plate appearances with one  stolen base and one  RBI.
 Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Sayre's offense. They came up short against  Millville on Saturday, falling  15-0.
 Loyalsock Township's record is now 0-3. As for Sayre, their record now sits at an identical 0-3.
 Loyalsock Township took their  win against Sayre  when the teams last played  back in May of 2024 by a conclusive  11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loyalsock Township since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
