Basketball Recap: Wharton Victorious

Wharton's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They secured a 44-39 W over the Sweeny Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 41-29 back in December of 2024.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kamryn Bragg, who posted eight points in addition to eight boards and seven blocks. What's more, Bragg also racked up two steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Daija Stubblefield was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Wharton's win bumped their record up to 8-17. As for Sweeny, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.

Wharton is taking a road trip to square off against El Campo at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Sweeny, they will square off against Needville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sweeny is facing Needville at the right time seeing as Needville is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
