Basketball Game Preview: Bluffton Bobcats vs. May River Sharks

The Bluffton Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the May River Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bluffton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully May River likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Bluffton earned a 72-59 victory over Bishop England. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Battling Bishops are ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bluffton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Harrison Skinner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 assists. Skinner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last five games he's played. Jamari Manning was another key player, going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points.

Meanwhile, May River waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Eagles, posting a 70-37 win. That 33 point margin sets a new team best for the Sharks this season.

Bluffton's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for May River, they are also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Bluffton came out on top in a nail-biter against May River when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 39-37. Will Bluffton repeat their success, or does May River have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
